Panchakarma is the five kriyas by which the impurities are removed from the body. They are vamana, virechana, vasti, Raktha moksham and Nasyam i.e., medicated emesis, medicated purgation medicated enema, nasal inhalation of medicines and bloodletting are them. These are the five purification processes which remove accumulated toxins and other waste materials in the body for e.g.: nasal medication removes kapha and cleans the sinus and improves the function of sinus.

The clinical examination of the patient should be properly done. For that darsana (seeing the patient in person), Sparsana (By touch) Prasna( Interrogation) method can be used. After that patient should be examined in accordance with Dooshyam, desam, balam, kalam, Analam, prakrthi, vaya, satvam, satmyam, Aahavam and avasta. Then the disease by Nidaanam, pragroopam, Lakshanam, upasayam, samaprapthi. Thus the diagnosis is done and then the treatment.

The impaired doshas are removed through panchakarma ie, “shodhana” way of treatment. Imbalances in sense organs, bad food habits, hybrid foods, frozen food etc. are reasons for accumulation of waste products in the body. If the body is purified properly the body gets strength and immunity. So Panchakarma is important for every individual. It is the shodhana type of treatments.
